THE COLLEGE TAPES EP
Meticulously crafted from the ground up, the “COLLEGE TAPES” EP is a project KYL3. started in high school and eventually released in his last year of college as part of his senior project. All four songs are written, performed, produced, mixed, and mastered by KYL3. from his bedroom studio in Connecticut.
Kyle received a perfect score for his senior Capstone project from the talented faculty at the University of New Haven.

A DEEP DIVE INTO COLLEGE TAPES
Track 1: “The Worst Part”
Comprehensive audio engineering from initial production through final mastering. Each track showcases the complete journey: raw elements, rough mixing, refined final mix, and streaming-ready master. I wrote, performed, mixed, mastered, and released this music.
Stage 1: Raw Track
Initial production stage with basic drum programming, unprocessed vocals, and foundational layers. This starting point shows the core musical ideas before any mixing or mastering processing.
Stage 2: Rough Mix
First mixing pass establishing balance, basic panning, and initial EQ. This stage focuses on getting levels right and creating the foundation for the final mix.
Stage 3: Final Mix
Polished mix with detailed EQ, compression, reverb staging, and automation. Each element now occupies its own frequency space with proper depth and clarity. Dynamic movement brings the track to life.
Stage 4: Final Master
Streaming-ready master optimized for Spotify, Apple Music, and all platforms. Applied multiband compression, limiting, and final EQ tweaks. Balanced loudness while maintaining dynamics and musicality. Professional, radio-ready result.
Track 2: “Pretty Lady”
A different genre than “The Worst Part”. The tracks here once again showcase how I built the song from raw through mastering.
